THE LIPIZZANS OF THE AMERICAS
The “Lipizzans of the Americas – North & South” united to honor the Tempel Lipizzans’ leadership in bringing the classic art of dressage to the U.S. Horses and riders from the Chile-based Escuela Clásica Lipizzana, Latin America's first and only Lipizzan herd, participated in our 60th Anniversary celebration. The two organizations performed together at Tempel Farms from July 7-25, 2018, which included a joint appearance during our 60th Anniversary Gala on July 21, 2018.
The Escuela Clásica Lipizzana was founded by Chilean entrepreneur Nicolas Ibañez Scott in 2010. His motivation for creating this institution was the love and dedication he has for his country and especially for the southern part of Chile. In the words of Mr. Nicolas Ibañez Scott, “Fundación Lipizzana Chile is essentially a cultural project in which we seek to promote the equestrian sport of the Haute École in Chile. Furthermore, we seek to rescue the values and style of classical dressage school, for that reason we were inspired by the Spanish Riding School of Vienna."
For their visit to the Tempel Lipizzans the Escuela Clásica Lipizzana brought 6 horses, 4 riders, and director Oscar Coddou Molina. Oscar graduated as an Officer of the Cavalry of the Chilean Army in 1973. He served 37 years in the Chilean Army and retired in 2010. In the competitive dressage arena, he has always had great success. He has received many national champion titles in different categories between 1978 and 2016. In 2006, he was the Military world dressage champion. From 1983 to 2015 he participated in the Pan-American Games in the dressage arena. He was an FEI *** international judge until 2011. One of the most important achievement in his career was becaming director and co-founder of the Escuela Clásica Lipizzana in 2010.
